How i feel playing my character Percival

Percival 

Playing percival character was  hard but at the same time was easy because i had act like i was seven year old  and I had to pretend that I was crying which was hard , however the two things that was easy for me that had to act like I was confused about what's going on in the island and I had to ask a lot of questions to piggy ( Renique) and Ralph ( shantai) .

Technical Rehearsal and dress rehearsal

Today was our last day to rehearsal and improve our play. Before we did that group one had go one stage  play while Jackie sorting out the lighting , while group one was saying line Jackie had to stop them , so she know when to change the light  . when Jackie finished doing lighting , group and two had rehearsal and go through our lines , i was really nerves because it was our first performing in front friends and family  and plus it was part of our exam. Level 3 and our group came together for dress rehearsal and we had to perform in front of each other , i was really afraid that i was gonna forget my line but me and my group performed i forgot that people was there and i cant see anyone which gave me more confidence. i think that the Level 3 performance was really good , their play was  interesting.

My Character: Percival

Percival 

The character that im playing is percival. He is seven years old who confused which side he should be on .  percival is the youngest out of the group , his quiet person and his innocent and also naive but when he join Jack crew his loose his innocent by trying to kill Ralph . percival is type who question alot and he wants some one to protect him like Piggy and Ralph and he also cries alot because he thinks there a beast in the island but its just his imagination .

Two things that me and Percival in common , when we don't understand something  , we ask alot of questions and we both quiet but what's different between  me and Percival , im a loud person sometimes and i don't cry unless its a serious situation.

Reuben Johnson

Reuben Johnson is a professional actor and writer , who came to cast Lord of the flies but before Reuben came , we had to watch  Lord of the flies to understand what's  was going on and we had to discuss it as a group , how the movie had a effected on us and who we thought was  good or bad and also discuss who we thought was the leader .

 Our first lesson Reuben we had to play a game  called busy be which help  warm up , i really enjoy playing the game and the another game played  , which we had to say each other name and surname while we switch places with each other .when we finished playing games , Reuben told us that were we are Lord of the flies for 3 weeks and gonna perform it .Reuben gave us script and told us to get into to groups and choose the character that we want to be then read the script.

The  Second period each group had to act it out and we had to improvise what will happen if we was in the jungle and the beach .

Reflection on acting skills

Today we performed in front of Level 2 students, all of us was nervous but at the same time was excited to show our performance and tell our stories and show what we experience in the past. When it was time for me to do my monologue, I was just thinking how was gonna say it and i felt kinder edgy. When level 2 gave us feed backs, three students said that my monologue was really good and they said also can see my emotions while I was reading my monologue and one of them said my voice was unique which gave me confidence. However I need to improve voice by projecting my voice. Some of the level 2 said Timothy did a great job continue with play because if he didn’t, we wouldn’t able to continue with the play which I’m really glad that he continue, if he didn’t, the level 2 student will focus on the accident, instead the of the play and the level 2 also said that Monica did a good job on her monologue, they said when Monica was saying her monologue, they can see her emotions.

 My facial expression has improved, when I was saying my monologue, my face was serious to show that it was my time to tell my story and what I been though. I played three character for example in the IVF I was Ty grandma, in the hospital scene I was pretend that I was waiting for my appointment and I also play the cleaner. I could perform better by putting energy and also show more emotions. When Timothy fall on the table , I came out of role because I really shocked what happened and the only thing I was thinking , are we still gonna do our play , in the future if something happen while doing the play , I'm gonna stay in role. My ensemble has improve for example when it was time for us to go in stillness, no one didn't move. What did well on the slow motion, I think I did ok slow motion and I also moved at the same time with the others.

Reflection on production skills

My role for the production was props, on the day the performance I didn’t really a lot of props, me and my group was supposed to bring a picture frame Nadeen and an object for Monica. Before the show I had to make sure that the props was in the right place for example the broom, I had to put it behind the curtains. During the show I had to give one of the character broom, when I finished doing my monologue. After the perform I had to put props back where I got it from. What handle well was putting the props in the right place and I stayed clam because I knew that it was in the right place, I didn’t support another role because they knew what they doing and I didn’t take another task, I just stuck with the props.  What I can do better, is to bring props for the people that needs it for their scene. I still have the same role for the next show, I will make sure that everyone has their props and the also put the props in the places. The advice I will give myself is to bring the props.

Reflection as a Team?

We had to wear all black and the props was set correctly. I didn’t support any on stage because knew what they was doing and I didn’t save anyone because everyone knew their lines. There was no distraction, everyone was focused, especially me.  I think we don’t need to improve our team work because we prepared and we set up everything and we did it together. What we need improve is to stay in character when something happens because why Timothy fell, we got out of the character. 

In today lesson Dominique taught us how fight safely by getting us in to pairs but before we got into pair , Dominique got Chaz to help her show skills that we was gonna do .

 The three skill that she taught us was the punch on the face , punch on the stomach and the kick the person on the face. 

The first skill she taught us when you punch some one on the face , you have to use your left arm and your hand to hit your chest to make the sound and use your right arm to punch the person 
on the face , we had to do a facial expression to make it look more realistic . 

Two pair i liked the most was lenna and Nadeen because they put more energy and their facial expression was really good and look so real the way they was moving around while they was fighting . 
The second one was Chaz and Ivon their look real also and the way Ivon punched Chaz on the face look more convincing and also the kick.
I think me and my pair did ok but i think we should of add slow motion and show more emotions but overall our scene was good. 

2 October
In today lesson we was improve some of the scene and performing then we have to give feed back on what should improve . 
Jackie told us that we have to be louder and be truthful in every moment and she also said the key with acting -  you have to pretend its happening which i agree because i think if you pretend to be something.
 i realised that when i say my monologue , i  talk  fast , what do i need is to relaxes and and take a deep breathe and take my time to talk and i also need to ask myself what does my character want and how should reacted.
i think i could of done better by speaking more clearly and talk loud and don't be affect to tell my story and show more emotions and also have more facial expression.  

Improve the scene

Tuesday 23-
In today's lesson we had to put the whole scene together, the scene we had to focus on was the football scene.
 We had to put so much energy to show that we was in a football match  , we had do  our actions and movement more bigger to make more realistic and we also added slow motion to give more affected. Our volume and tone was loud . 

Our timing started to improve and when we focus , we had alot of energy but we need to improve our still image because whenever we stand still we end up moving around alot and we stop focusing . 

I feel like our play have improve alot , especially our voice , we started  speak loud which is a good thing because now the audience will able to hear us and also actions and movement really improve , we are trying to think outside of the box and make our character bigger. 

October 8^th

^{My Reflection of  practical piece: Hidden memories} 

^{For past few lesson my physicality has improve for example my actions and movement has gone better then before , my movement and action has improve. In some of my practicals I didn't really have a lot of energy but now when I rehearse i put a lot of energy.}

When we started our play , I wasn't really give eye contact because i was kinda afraid  what people might think,even know I'm a loud person but whenever perform talk quietly or i talk fast but now when i say my monologue i speak loud and clear but i still need to slow down.

My ensemble has also improve I'm a type who can't focus whenever the teacher talking , my mind just goes blank , my timing was bad but now i focus more and my timing is gone ok and also im starting to interrupt with other people , especially people in my group.

When i perform to an audience , im starting to give eye contact , how ever i need to try connected with them when i do my monologue , i need to try and make the audience see what im going though by giving more eye contact.

My discipline in rehearsals are improving  , i don't fidgeting when im in a still image and timing going ok ,overall i think that  i have improve for the past few lessons. 

1st years performance

Wednesday 15th

What happen in today lesson?
Today lesson we had an opportunity to watch the 1st year performance. Their performance was about elephantiasis 
this gave a chance to see what they was doing and what needed to improve in my play 

What i did ?  
I had to analysis the performance and wrote down i thought about the play and what needs improving and also compare it to my play.

What I liked and what's need improving 
what I liked about the was there freeze frame , it was good timing and no one was moving and fidgeting when one of the character was talking . 
The whole group had loud projection  , however some of them didn't take breathe when it was their time to talk  and they was talking fast and some them was talking quietly which show that they was nervous.
Overall I enjoy the play and the light was really good , it made the play look more realistic.

Getting ready

We had to pretend getting ready by pretending that putting our clothes and shoes our. we had to get into groups and do it at the same time and we had to change some stuff and two people to do some thing else while the other do the same routine.

1st October
We was rehearing our play and going through some bits , to see if need to improve and some of us had to our monologue . 
Jackie gave us tips on what we should improve she said the people at the back should  add  little more details and also freeze when Lenna talks and move when she not. 
What i need to improve : speak louder because when im nervous i talk quietly or i talk really fast which i need to slow it down and gave eye contact with the audience . 
what i did good when i was saying my monologue , it was clear  and i feel my character is improving but i need to add more details.

Today lesson we had share our music and say why we chose it. My music was James Blake- The Wilhelm Scream , the reason why chose it because it help me write my monologue and the song makes me think  about life and the another reason why chose it because it help me create a dance for my dance exam another song i chose was Jhene Aiko but i didn't share to the class . i chose this song because also makes me think and clam down whenever im angry or when im upset .

 On Monday lesson was one of the lesson that I really liked because we had to pretend that we was going care house for doing  something bad or our parent send us there , Jackie was pretending to be a social worker who takes to care home but before she take us there , Jackie ask us the four w questions ( who , what, where, when) . we had to do a thought tracking about we feel about the social worker take us care home and what we think will happen to us and also had to describe what the care home looks like and what we can see. My character was a quite person and a person who talks to her self , my character doesn't people touching her because her past . The reason why i chose this character because i felt i could play this character. What did in today lesson it felt real , it like felt like i was actually there .

My monologue

On Tuesday lesson I had to do my monologue in front of everyone which made me feel really nervous , when started to read my monologue felt shy and nervous and I wasn't giving anyone  eye contact  but the second time , I tried to gave people eye contact and while I was reading my monologue I felt like I was in my own world , like no one wasn't there .when Jackie told me to do it over and over again,  it gave me confidence, I'm glad that I did my monologue. what I need to improve is how I speak, I need to speak loud and clearly  and I need  look at the audience when I'm speaking and also need to move around instead of sitting down and don't be afraid to show my emotions.

Creating a little play

Today lesson Mrs Dominique told us to get in to a circle and we had to get to know each by doing a small exercise for example we had to learn each others our names and doing still image which made me feel confident because it help talk  to people more . We had to get into groups of four and make a little play and it had to make sense. my group we didn't finish the play because we find it hard to create a little play and we couldn't really think of an idea  .In class I learnt that we your performing you have to stay in character and i also learnt whenever someone forget their line when their acting , you should try and help them by saying their lines or improvise. What I need improve is staying character because realized when I acted I sometime laugh and also need to try to become the character.

Today in class we had to bring an object, music and memories and we had to tell the story in details. We sat in circle and we took turns to tell our story and ask each others question to make each other feel better . Some of the story were mostly sad and depressing , it got us really emotional which was a good thing because it help our group  tell their personal life . I learnt that its fine to tell your personal story because shows that your brave enough to tell people what you been though, the person that touch me the most was Timothy because I never thought he was the type person to tell about his past and his story was really effective , I think it was really brave of him to tell us his story  . What I need to improve is speaking clearly  because I think the class didn't really hear what I was saying and  I need to give more details.
